Olympia art gallery set to reopen Monday, but business asks that customers wear masks

Childhood’s End Gallery, a popular downtown Olympia art gallery, is set to reopen for business on Monday, according to a newsletter sent to customers.

But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the gallery is asking customers to wear masks before entering the business.

“To enter, you will need to wear a mask the entire time you are in the store,” the email newsletter reads. “This goes for you and us.”

Thurston County retailers have been allowed to reopen after the county was approved this week to move into Phase 2 of the governor’s phased reopening of the economy.

The gallery also will have a hand sanitation station, and the owners ask that customers observe social distancing rules.

If a large group of customers enters the store on Fourth Avenue, and another large group shows up to do the same, they ask that one group wait to allow the other group to leave.

The business wants to make sure that no more than 25 people are in the store at a time, according to the newsletter.

The gallery also will no longer offer its restroom to customers until the pandemic has subsided.

“We apologize for any inconvenience, but this is to help maintain the lowest possible risk for the health and safety of our employees,” the newsletter reads.

The gallery is at 222 Fourth Ave. W. It is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
