A 28-year-old Mason County man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and resisting arrest at a tavern over the weekend, according to Shelton police.

It was during his arrest at Bob’s Tavern in downtown Shelton that a fight began, followed by tavern customers “yelling at responding officers.”

According to Shelton police:

About 11 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the Log Cabin Tavern on Olympic Highway South after a report of robbery.

The victim said a man walked up to him and demanded his wallet and cell phone, while making intimidating comments. The victim also overheard the suspect say he was headed to Bob’s Tavern.

Meanwhile, police needed to respond to a domestic violence emergency, so they requested assistance from the Washington State Patrol and Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Troopers and deputies identified the suspect at Bob’s Tavern, but when they tried to detain him, they say he resisted arrest and began to fight. Customers began yelling at officers. More police were called to the scene.

“The scene was extremely chaotic and unruly,” a news release reads.

After the suspect was in custody, police say they found the victim’s cell phone and wallet in his pockets.
