Grease trailer crash in Rainier sends two people to hospital

A pickup truck hauling grease crashed into a tree in Rainier on Tuesday morning, spilling tanks of grease onto the road and causing injuries to the driver and one passenger.

Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of Minnesota and Rainier Roads at 4:33 a.m. and found the driver partially trapped inside the truck. It took officers about 40 minutes to remove the driver, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Ray Brady. Both people were taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

The truck had been hauling two tanks of grease on a flatbed utility trailer when it hit the tree, spilling the grease. It took deputies a few hours to mop up the grease.
