Olympia area weather this week will heat up, cool down, then warm up again

The Olympia area weather pattern this week may have you putting on your bathing suit, then taking it off just as the weekend arrives, according to the National Weather Service.

That’s because the weather will warm up, cool a bit, warm up again, then cool again for the weekend, meteorologist Jacob DeFlitch said Monday.

Tuesday is expected to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures forecast to rise into the mid-80s. A weak weather system is set to move through the area Wednesday, bringing with it a chance of showers and clouds, which will lower temperatures to about 75 degrees, DeFlitch said.

Temperatures are set to rise again into the 80s on Thursday and Friday, then will cool again when another weather system passes through the area, he said.

Although Tuesday is expected to be the hottest day this week, don’t expect a new record. The record high temperature for June 23 is 96 degrees, which was set in 1992.

And if you’re looking to cool off at Long Lake Park it’s swim at your own risk because there won’t be lifeguards, the city of Lacey announced over the weekend, saying the COVID-19 pandemic has created a new barrier for certifying and re-certifying lifeguards.
