Thurston County reports one new case of COVID-19, total now 230

Thurston County announced on Thursday a man in his 30’s has been diagnosed with COVID-19. This is the 230 case found in the county since the first was discovered on March 11.

Cases in Thurston County have been trending younger in recent weeks; county health officials correlate the trend to younger people disobeying social distancing protocols and not wearing masks around one another when gathering.

The amount of people considered “recovered” or “recovering” by the county remained the same at 212, along with the amount of hospitalized at 32.

So far in Thurston County, four people have died from COVID-19, three of which were from outbreaks at assisted living facilities and all of whom had underlying health conditions.

  • Pierce County is reporting 35 new cases of COVID-19 and added one new death yesterday. 2,390 people have been infected in the county and 85 have died.
  • Lewis County announced five new cases on Thursday, a person in their 30’s, two in their 40’s and two in their 50’s. The county’s case total is now at 57 with three deaths.
  • Mason County discovered three new cases, bringing their total to 46 with one death
  • Grays Harbor County is on it’s sixth day of no new cases maintaining 24 in total.

  • Washington State is now reporting that 30,367 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 1,300 have died from it, according to the Washington State Department of Health.
  • In the U.S., more than 2.45 million cases of the respiratory disease have been confirmed and 125,796 people have died as a result, data from Johns Hopkins University shows.
  • Globally, over 9.6 million cases have been confirmed along with 489,405 deaths.
