Darin Goss has been named chief executive of Providence Health and Services Southwest Washington, which includes Providence St. Peter and Centralia hospitals, as well as the Providence Medical Group, the health care organization announced this week.

Goss’s first day on the job is expected to be Aug. 3.

“The hospitals and clinics in the southwest (Washington) service area have much to celebrate, and I am honored to serve as chief executive,” he said in a statement.

Prior to being named CEO, he served two years as chief operating officer of Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. Before Providence, Goss worked at the Mayo Clinic for 18 years, according to a news release.

Goss replaces former CEO Medrice Coluccio, who served in that role for more than 10 years. She retired in March. Between her departure and Goss’s hire, the interim period was filled by Paul Wilkinson.
