Coroner identifies Olympia man whose body was found in Summit Lake Tuesday

The Thurston County Coroner’s Office has identified the man whose body was found in a Thurston County lake Tuesday.

The man was Ruben Robles, 27, of Olympia, Coroner Gary Warnock told The Olympian Wednesday. An autopsy had not yet been scheduled, and his cause of death had not yet been determined.

Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Summit Lake Tuesday afternoon after a snorkeler found Robles’ body about 30 feet from the lake’s shore, according to The Olympian’s previous reporting.

Members of the Sheriff’s dive rescue team pulled Robles from the water and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the office. There were no signs of foul play, the statement reads.

Pending new information from the Coroner’s Office, deputies believe it was an accidental drowning, Sheriff’s Lt. Ray Brady told The Olympian Wednesday. On Tuesday, Brady told an Olympian reporter that deputies found the man’s vehicle in a nearby parking lot, along with some clothes and a beach towel.
