Thurston County reports 16 new COVID-19 cases Monday
Thurston County Public Health and Social Services on Tuesday reported 16 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the county’s total to 594 cases confirmed since the pandemic began.
The latest residents to be diagnosed are:
- Three girls between the ages of 10 and 19;
- Two women and a man in their 20s;
- Two women and two men in their 30s;
- Four men in their 40s;
- A woman in her 50s; and
- A woman in her 60s.
The number of people considered “recovered” or “recovering” by Thurston County Public Health and Social Services remained at 308 Tuesday, the total number of people who have been hospitalized at some point remained at 46, and deaths related to the disease remained at six.
A person is considered “recovered” if they aren’t hospitalized and have been released from public health-ordered isolation, but they could still experience ongoing health problems from COVID-19, according to the department’s definition.
In the region
- Pierce County on Monday reported 105 new cases of COVID 19 with no new deaths, bringing its total to 4,516 cases and 106 deaths.
- Lewis County announced eight new cases: four in their 20s, two in their 30s, one in their 40s, and one in their 60s. None of the newly diagnosed residents are hospitalized, according to the announcement, and no new recoveries were reported. The county’s total is now 163 confirmed cases with three deaths.
- Mason County reported 20 new cases Monday, bringing its total to 130 with one death and 42 cases considered active. The newest cases were in: Two boys and a girl between ages 0 and 19, three men and two women in their 20s, three men and two women in their 30s, two men in their 40s, two men and a woman in their 50s, a woman in her 60s, and a woman in her 80s.
- Grays Harbor County has reported a total of 81 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and one death. Forty-one of those cases, along with the sole death, have been reported this month, and the age group with the most cases (29) is people 20-39 years old.
Around the state, nation and world
- Washington State’s Department of Health was reporting Monday that 53,321 people in the state have tested positive for COVID-19 and 1,518 have died from it.
- In the U.S., there have been more than 4.2 million cases of COVID-19 reported and 147,588, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
- Globally, more than 16.3 million people have tested positive for the disease and 651,902 people are reported to have died from it.
