Here’s one way to get your children outside this summer: Tumwater Parks and Recreation is giving out free art kits as part of its newly launched Tumwater Art Stars program.

The program will continue throughout the summer and into September, with a new art kit coming out every few weeks, according to a city press release.

The first kit includes sidewalk chalk in a variety of colors, plus blue tape and other crafty materials.

Future kits will provide supplies for bubble blowing, painting rocks, and window painting, according to the Parks and Recreation website, which also offers weekly themes such as “animal friends” and “silly monsters”.

Interested artists can reserve art kits by emailing volunteer@ci.tumwater.wa.us or calling 360-754-4164. According to the news release, residents are encouraged to reserve as many kits as they want and pass them out to neighbors.
