1 dead, 3 injured after semi-truck crashes into tow truck in Lewis County

One man was killed and three others were injured when a semi-truck crashed into a tow truck in Lewis County early Monday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 1:45 a.m. Monday, the tow truck and semi-truck were headed west on U.S. 12 in Lewis County, near Salkum. Troopers say the driver of the tow truck made a U-turn and was hit by the semi-truck.

The driver of the tow truck, a 64-year-old man from Cle Elum, died at the scene, according to the State Patrol. He had two passengers, a 38-year-old Rainier woman and a 35-year-old Olympia woman. Both were injured.

The Rainier woman was flown to a hospital in the Vancouver, Washington area, and the Olympia woman was taken to Morton General Hospital in Lewis County.

The semi-truck driver also was injured. He was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to the State Patrol.
