Thurston County announces another COVID-19 death and 14 more cases to end week at 99
A woman in her 80s has died of COVID-19, Thurston County Public Health and Social Services announced Sunday, and another 14 people have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Thurston County ended the week with 99 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Eleven people have died of the virus since the first case was reported in Thurston County March 11.
The county also announced a third outbreak (fifth overall) at a congregate care setting Sunday, and county officials said that one of the 14 new cases is tied to the third outbreak.
The three new congregate care setting outbreak locations have not been disclosed by the county. Of the five overall, the two previous locations were Olympics West Retirement Inn in Tumwater and Infinite Care Adult Family Home in Lacey. Those outbreaks are over.
Of the 14 new cases on Sunday, one man is in his 70s, while everyone else is 60 or younger, including four more children 9 or younger.
Overall, Thurston County now has had 776 cases. Of those, 657 people have recovered or are recovering, 58 have been hospitalized at some point during their illness.

▪ Lewis County also announced five new cases on Sunday, giving the county 236 cases with three deaths.
▪ Mason County is still reporting 227 cases and one death.
▪ Grays Harbor County has 110 cases and three deaths.

Washington state has reported 63,072 cases with 1,688 deaths, according to the state Department of Health.
In the U.S., more than 5 million people had contracted the virus and 163,000 had died as of Monday, Johns Hopkins University data show. Globally, there had been 19.9 million cases reported and more than 732,000 deaths as of Monday.
