Fire destroys home near Rainier Thursday morning
A single-family home near Rainier was destroyed in a fire Thursday morning, according to Southeast Thurston Fire Authority.
The home, which is typically occupied full-time, was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries reported, according to Fire Chief Mark King.
Crews were dispatched to the home on the 14800 block of 159th Lane Southeast just before 5:30 a.m. Thursday, King told The Olympian. They arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.
By 8:30 a.m., crews had extinguished the fire, King said, but the house, estimated at 2,500 square feet, is “a total loss,” along with a motorcycle and car that were parked in its garage.
The fire’s cause is under investigation.
Bald Hills Fire Department, South Thurston Fire & EMS, East Olympia Fire District 6, West Thurston Regional Fire Authority, and Lacey Fire District 3 also responded to the scene, according to King.
