Black bear reportedly seen on southbound I-5 near Tumwater Sunday morning

A black bear was reportedly seen on southbound I-5 near Tumwater Sunday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

However, the State Patrol could not confirm the sighting, Sgt. Anna Gasser said Sunday.

Gasser responded to the report at southbound I-5 and Tumwater Boulevard but did not see the bear. She also wasn’t aware of any traffic problems the bear may have caused.

This isn’t the first time a black bear has wandered onto I-5.

In May, according to KOMO news, a black bear was spotted on the freeway between Lakewood and DuPont.
