Fatal crash near Exit 111 in Lacey leads to long backup on northbound I-5 Monday

A crash that killed a pedestrian on northbound I-5 near Exit 111 in Lacey delayed traffic for about two hours early Monday, according to the Washington State Patrol and state Department of Transportation.

About 5:45 a.m., troopers say a 35-year-old woman crossed in front of a Chevy Silverado driving down I-5 and was hit by it, according to the State Patrol.

It was not immediately clear why the woman was in the road.

The four people in the Silverado, including a 2-year-old child and infant, were not injured, troopers say.

The collision, which closed two lanes of traffic, was cleared about 8 a.m., according to WSDOT. At one point, the traffic jam stretched from Lacey to Tumwater, according to WSDOT.
