One more person has died of COVID-19 in Thurston County and 9 more cases confirmed
A man in his 90s has died of COVID-19 and nine more cases were confirmed Wednesday by Thurston County Public Health and Social Services.
The nine cases were a man in his 60s, two men in their 40s, a woman in her 30s, three people ages 10-19 and two girls 9 or younger, the county data show.
The total number of cases to date is now 1,015. Of those, 828 people have recovered or are recovering, 75 have been hospitalized at some point during their illness and 15 have died, including the death announced Wednesday.
There now have been three deaths in the past seven days.
In the region
▪ Pierce County announced 31 new cases and two deaths on Wednesday, giving the county 6,749 cases and 152 deaths. The two new deaths were a man in his 80s from South Hill and a woman in her 20s from south Pierce County.
▪ Lewis County reported 350 cases and four deaths as of Wednesday afternoon. Just 179 are considered recovered.
▪ Mason County had reported 349 cases and one death as of Thursday.
▪ Grays Harbor County added 11 new cases Wednesday, giving the county 261 confirmed cases with six deaths.
Around the state, nation and world
Washington state reported 75,377 cases and 1,935 deaths Wednesday afternoon, according to the state Department of Health.
In the U.S., more than 6.1 million cases and more than 186,000 deaths had been reported as of Thursday, Johns Hopkins University data show. Globally, 26.1 million cases have been reported and about 865,000 people had died as of Thursday, the data show.
