Lacey motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after multiple vehicle crash near Summit Lake

A 34-year-old Lacey man and his 19-year-old female passenger were injured Saturday when their motorcycle was involved in a multiple vehicle crash in Thurston County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The man was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and the woman was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, according to the State Patrol

The crash, which involved three vehicles and the motorcycle, happened about 5 p.m. Saturday on state Route 8 at Winslow Drive east of Summit Lake. A 27-year-old Seattle man was headed east on state Route 8 when he slowed for stopped traffic. Troopers say that triggered the multiple vehicle crash.

The Seattle man and his two passengers were not injured. Neither were a 58-year-old male driver from Lakewood and a 38-year-old male driver from Elma also caught up in the collision.

State Route 8 was blocked for more than two hours, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers say the Lacey motorcyclist faces a possible charge of reckless endangerment and reckless driving. The crash is under investigation, WSP said.
