Outage leaves thousands without power in Tumwater

Update 2:12 P.M.: PSE is now reporting that the number of homes without power is down to 65. Dozens of other outages have been reported across the county, including one in Northeast Olympia that is affecting 138 homes.

Update: 10:05 A.M. - Power has been restored to about one thousand homes, PSE is reporting. 1,647 are still without power. It’s not clear when the rest will be turned back on.

Puget Sound Energy is reporting that 2,677 households are without power in Tumwater on Tuesday morning.

The outage began at 8:34 a.m. and was caused by a car that crashed into a pole on Henderson Boulevard and 65th Avenue, according to spokespeople from the City of Tumwater and PSE.

The outage runs along the east side of the Olympia Regional Airport north to the Tumwater Valley Golf Course.

Henderson Boulevard is closed between 65th Avenue and Tumwater Boulevard.

314 outages have been reported across PSE’s service area, which stretches from Whatcom county down to Lewis County, affecting over 82,000 homes, according to the PSE outage map.
