Thurston COVID-19 cases grow to 1,068 after county announces 9 more cases Wednesday
Nine more confirmed cases of COVID-19 were announced by Thurston County Public Health and Social Services on Wednesday.
The nine new cases, which increased the overall total to 1,068, were a man and woman in their 70s, two women in their 50s, two men in their 30s, a woman in her 20s and two females between the ages of 10-19, the data show.
Of the 1,068 cases, 885 people have recovered or are recovering, 75 have been hospitalized at some point during their illness and 15 have died. The number of COVID-19 facility outbreaks now stands at five. One of those is the Thurston County Jail. Three adult family homes and an assisted living facility also have an ongoing COVID-19 situation.

▪ Pierce County announced 28 new cases on Wednesday with no new deaths. The new cases give the county 7,007. Deaths were unchanged at 156.
▪ Lewis County reported seven new cases, giving the county 415 with four deaths. The new cases were a resident in their 80s, a resident in their 40s, two residents in their 30s and three in their 20s.
▪ Mason County announced three new cases and two additional deaths, increasing the case total to 366 and deaths to three.
▪ Grays Harbor County, as of Tuesday night, was still reporting 304 cases and six deaths.

Washington state reported 78,009 cases and 1,978 deaths Wednesday afternoon, according to the state Department of Health.
In the U.S., 6.3 million cases have been reported with 190,000 deaths, Johns Hopkins University data show. Globally, there have been more than 27.6 million cases and 900,000 deaths, the data show.
