Suspect carjacked vehicle, then fled on foot, Lacey police say

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes Wednesday afternoon after an incident that started at The Home Depot, according to Lacey police.

About 1:15 p.m., the man was reportedly stealing tools at the store when he was confronted by loss-prevention staff. The man then fled from the business and carjacked a vehicle from a female driver using a knife, according to police.

Police say he got out of the car and started running again, but eventually was detained by police in the 8000 block of Martin Way East.

The man was booked on suspicion of first-degree robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping while armed and second-degree assault with a weapon.
