10 new COVID-19 cases gives Thurston County 1,078
Thurston County reported 10 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, and more than half of those cases were diagnosed in those 19 or younger.
The new cases were a man in his 60s, a man in his 40s, a man and woman in their 20s and six people 19 or younger, including two boys, ages 0-9, according to Thurston County Public Health and Social Services.
Those 20-29 continue to be the largest demographic in the county with the most cases, or 237 cases to date, representing 22 percent of the overall total, county data show.
The 10 new cases increased the overall total to 1,078. Of those, 887 people have recovered or are recovering, 75 have been hospitalized at some point during their illness and 15 have died.
The number of COVID-19 facility outbreaks still stands at five. One of those is the Thurston County Jail. Three adult family homes and an assisted living facility also have an ongoing COVID-19 situation.

▪ Pierce County announced 40 new cases on Thursday with one new death, a Tacoma woman in her 80s who had underlying health conditions. The new cases give the county 7,065 with 157 deaths.
▪ Lewis County reported five new cases, increasing its total to 420 with four deaths. The new cases were a resident in their 60s, a resident in their 50s, a resident in their 40s and two under 20.
▪ Mason County reported six new cases, giving the county 372 with three deaths.
▪ Grays Harbor County announced 21 new cases Wednesday night, increasing the county’s total to 325 with six deaths.
Around the state, nation and world
Washington state reported 78,009 cases and 1,978 deaths Thursday afternoon, according to the state Department of Health.
In the U.S., 6.3 million cases have been reported with 191,000 deaths, Johns Hopkins University data show. Globally, there have been more than 27.9 million cases and 906,000 deaths, the data show.
