Altercation results in man being stabbed in the chest, Olympia police say

A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of felony assault after he stabbed another man in the chest Sunday afternoon, according to Olympia police.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to an area hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, Olympia Police Chief Aaron Jelcick said Monday.

Police think the two men know each other, he said.

About 1:30 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Fourth Avenue East after a witness called 911 to report the incident.

Jelcick said the two men had some sort of confrontation at that address before the other man was stabbed.

Other details about the assault were not immediately available.
