Maple tree removal could be loud for South Capitol residents on Wednesday
Residents of the South Capitol neighborhood may hear some loud buzzing and chopping noises on Wednesday to remove a tree.
The state Department of Enterprise Services will be removing a large sugar maple at the corner of the aptly-named Maple Park Avenue and Capitol Way.
The tree removal is part of the construction of a new childcare center for state workers that began in June at the Capitol Campus site.
The one-story, 9,600 square foot building is a $10 million project that will provide six classrooms and a “nature-based learning playground” for children, according to the DES website.
The noise will continue on Thursday, when trucks will be pouring the foundation for the building.
The childcare center is scheduled to be completed in 2021.
