Thurston County announces 16th COVID-19 death, plus 5 more cases
Thurston County health officials on Thursday announced a 16th death, plus five more cases to give the county a total of 1,112.
A man in his 70s has died, county officials said. The five new cases were two men in their 40s, a man and woman in their 30s and a girl between the ages of 0-9, according to Thurston County Public Health and Social Services.
Of the overall total, 907 people have recovered or are recovering, 79 have been hospitalized at some point during their illness and 16 have died. Four people have been hospitalized the past week, the data show.
The number of COVID-19 facility outbreaks also has fallen to one from three. One adult family home is still experiencing an outbreak, a county spokeswoman said.

▪ Pierce County on Thursday announced 28 cases and one new death, giving the county a total of 7,289 and 163 deaths. The new death was a man in his 80s from University Place who had underlying health conditions.
▪ Lewis County reported six more cases for a total of 454 and four deaths.
▪ Grays Harbor County announced 10 more cases Wednesday night to give the county 401 with six deaths.
▪ Mason County reported two more cases for a total of 386 cases and three deaths.

The state Department of Health on Thursday reported 386 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 11 deaths, giving the state 81,198 cases and 2,031 deaths.
In the U.S., 6.6 million people have contracted the virus and 197,000 have died as a result, according to Johns Hopkins University data. Globally, 30 million people have been been afflicted and 943,000 have died, the data show.
