Olympia man who was killed on Old Highway 99 has been identified

A 54-year-old man who died Saturday night on Old Highway 99 has been identified, according to the Thurston County Coroner.

Dale Drewry was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by another vehicle on northbound Old Highway 99 at Waldrick Road Southeast about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

He died at the scene. Coroner Gary Warnock said his autopsy is set for Wednesday.

The 37-year-old Olympia man who caused the crash was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run, according to the State Patrol. Troopers also suspect that he was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The 37-year-old driver reportedly tried to run from the scene.

The 51-year-old woman driving Drewry’s vehicle was injured and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
