Businesses team up, fitness chain reopens, and what happened to this ice cream spot?

Anthony’s Homeport in downtown Olympia and Olympic Mountain Ice Cream in Shelton will team up again after a similar pairing on Dec. 19 attracted hundreds of customers.

The event is set for Jan. 23. The two businesses will set up outside Anthony’s at 704 Columbia St. NW. Anthony’s will sell salmon, scallops, bay shrimp, prawns and a Mukilteo-based coffee from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., while Olympic Mountain will sell pints, half-gallons, gallons and 1.5 gallons of its ice cream from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This time, though, Anthony’s outdoor market will collect non-perishable items for the Thurston County Food Bank and Olympic Mountain will donate a portion of its sales and tips to the Thurston County Food Bank and Saints’ Pantry in Shelton, said Kyle Radanovic, general manager of Anthony’s Homeport.

A long line formed quickly to buy ice cream at the similar event on Dec. 19, Radanovic said. Olympic Mountain nearly sold out in December, so this time the business is going to bring fewer flavors but more of them, she said.

Those who donate five non-perishable food items will receive a gift card from Anthony’s.

Other business happenings

Planet Fitness reopened its Washington state gyms on Jan. 11, including in west Olympia and Lacey. The Lacey location is in the Fred Meyer shopping center off Sleater-Kinney Road, while the Olympia location is on Cooper Point Road in a portion of the space once occupied by Toys R Us.

Some of the COVID-19 safety measures customers can expect:

Team members receive daily temperature checks when they arrive to work each day.

Increased, thorough cleaning are conducted using disinfectant effective against COVID-19, including 20-minute checks by team members to continually clean and sanitize high-touch areas.

Increased sanitation stations are available throughout the gym floor and members continue to be asked to wipe down equipment before and after use.

What’s happened to Baskin Robbins in Tumwater, the longtime ice cream business at Capitol Boulevard and Custer Way? The business appears closed, and a phone call went unanswered, but a note on the door says the business has closed for renovations.

“See you this summer,” the note reads.
