THURSTON COUNTY: Shotgun-shell mole trap nabs man’s finger

A man who was setting a spring gun trap using a shotgun shell to kill moles in his yard blew off part of a finger on his right hand at his Delphi Road property Monday evening, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

Thurston County Chief Criminal Deputy James Chamberlain said the 39-year-old man will be cited with a gross misdemeanor for operating an illegal trap. The sheriff’s office was alerted to the incident while the man was being treated at an area hospital Monday night.
