No bail for suspect connected to body found under Olympia bridge, court records show

A suspect connected to the body of a man found under an Olympia bridge last week is being held without bail, according to Thurston County Superior Court records.

Antonio Princeton Lee Hooks, 24, made his preliminary appearance on Friday. The court found probable cause for the crime of second-degree murder.

Charging documents give the following account:

Early Oct. 5, police were dispatched to the Fifth Avenue Bridge after the body of an adult male was found. The victim was later identified as 47-year-old Patrick O’Neil. An autopsy also later showed that he had suffered a broken jaw, broken nose, bruised right ear and his airway was full of blood, according to court records.

Police interviewed two witnesses who said they, along with Hooks, went to the bridge to get high. The victim was already on site. The witnesses alleged the victim appeared to be masturbating while looking at them. Hooks became enraged and kicked and punched the man unconscious, according to the witnesses.

The witnesses alleged Hooks kicked the man a second time after he was unconscious and the victim appeared to suffer a seizure, foam forming at his mouth.

“What did I do?” Hooks allegedly said.

One witness tried to help the victim by splashing water on his face to wake him up, followed by this: witnesses used an electric lighter to try to shock the victim awake, but only the victim’s arm moved, according to court records.

Hooks and the two witnesses then left the victim.

Hooks’ arraignment is set for Oct. 19.
