36 cars were stolen in Olympia in October. Here’s how to prevent it happening to you

The number of car thefts in Olympia spiked to 36 in October, police announced in a post on social media.

They also offered some tips to prevent it.

Never leave a spare key in the car.

Install a steering wheel lock.

Never leave a running vehicle unattended.

Install an alarm system.

Park in well-lit areas.

Completely close all windows.

Lock doors.

Police also said there were 22 vehicle prowls reported the last week of October. Wallets, tools, computers, and medicine were stolen, according to police.
