State Patrol reports second death tied to 3-car wreck in Mason County on Nov. 9

A 7-year-old boy has died after he was involved in a three-car wreck in Mason County on Nov. 9, Washington State Patrol reported late Friday.

A 43-year-old Arizona man died at the scene of the crash. The boy died at an area hospital on Thursday, Nov. 11.

According to Washington State Patrol, three vehicles — a Nissan Murano, Volkswagen Beetle and a Subaru Legacy — were headed north about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9 on U.S. 101 at Cloquallum Road, south of Shelton.

The Volkswagen and Subaru were stopped for traffic. Troopers say the Murano crashed into the Beetle, which then pushed into the Subaru.

The 56-year-old Shelton woman driving the Murano was injured in the crash and taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton. Her passengers — two boys, ages 10 and 8 — also were injured and taken to the same hospital.

Michael Braxton, the Arizona man who died at the scene, was a passenger in the Beetle. The 40-year-old Seaside, Oregon woman driving the car was injured and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. An injured 5-year-old girl went with her, while the seven-year-old boy was taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma where he later died.

The 60-year-old Shelton man in the Subaru was not hurt.
