Thurston County Food Bank begins Thanksgiving meal giveaway

The Thurston County Food Bank is expected to give away hundreds of Thanksgiving holiday meals over the next week.

On Thursday, a food bank crew kicked off the meal distribution, giving away an estimated 150 holiday meals at Mountain View Church on Israel Road in Tumwater.

Other giveaway times and locations are:

Monday and Wednesday, Nov. 22 and 24: People can drive up or walk up between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to get holiday meal baskets at Olympia’s Food Pantry at 220 Thurston Ave. NE.

Tuesday, Nov. 23: People can drive up or walk up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Lacey’s Food Pantry, 7027 Martin Way E.

No advance signup is required to pick up a meal basket, but only one meal basket will be given per household. Smaller families will receive whole chickens. Further information is available on the food bank’s website.
