The Olympia Yacht Club and Shelton Yacht Club have finished a two-week competition to collect food and raise money for local food banks, and both clubs pulled more than their weight.

Altogether both yacht clubs collected $14,595 and 637.5 pounds of food that will be donated to the Thurston County and Saint’s Pantry food banks, according to a news release from the Olympia Yacht Club.

The Olympia Yacht Club contributed 223 pounds of food and $11,563. The Shelton Yacht Club contributed 414.5 pounds of food and $3,032 to the fundraiser.

“It was a fun competition with Shelton and both communities benefited from it,” said OYC commodore Danny Wrye in the release.
