A 21-year-old Olympia man was injured early Friday when he crashed his car into a tree on U.S. 101 near Steamboat Island Road Northwest.

State Patrol responded to the injury collision by Oyster Bay Road at around 12:30 a.m. When they arrived, troopers found a 2019 Jeep Wrangler that had struck a tree and was on fire, according to a press memo.

First responders transported the driver to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with injuries. Meanwhile, the memo says State Patrol partially blocked the two-lane road for 2-1/2 hours.

Prior to the collision, the driver had been traveling north just south of Oyster Bay Road.

State Patrol believes the man drove under the influence of drugs or alcohol and with a suspended license, per the memo. The man’s vehicle was totaled in the collision.
