Icy conditions result in 7-car wreck near Nisqually Monday evening

Slick conditions Monday evening sent seven cars sliding off state Route 510 near Nisqually, according to Washington State Patrol.

About 6:20 p.m. Monday, all seven cars were headed west on state Route 510. Troopers say all seven encountered icy conditions. Three of the vehicles slid off the road on the eastbound side of the highway, while the four others slid and came to a stop in the westbound lanes, blocking traffic.

Only one person was injured: a 44-year-old woman from Olympia who was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, State Patrol information shows.

In addition to the woman from Olympia, the cluster of wrecks involved two more drivers from Olympia, plus a driver each from Yelm, Roy, Montesano and Seattle.

The road was blocked for more than three hours, according to State Patrol.
