Delays, closures for Wednesday, Jan. 5 due to icy conditions
Some South Sound school districts and other organizations have announced delays and closures for Wednesday, Jan. 5, because of icy weather conditions.
Clover Park School District: Schools will open two hours late. No half-day special education preschool, ECEAP or Head Start classes. No early release or transition programs. No out-of-district-transportation.
Grapeview School District: Opens two hours late. Buses will operate on snow routes.
Hood Canal School District: Closed. No preschool.
Mary M. Knight School District: Opens two hours late. Buses will operate on snow routes.
North Mason School District: Opens two hours late. No preschool. Buses will operate on snow routes. No out-of-district-transportation.
North Thurston Public Schools: Schools will open three hours late. No preschool. No out-of-district transportation.
Oakville School District: Opens two hours late.
Olympia School District: Schools will start on time Wednesday. However, all morning school buses will be on snow routes due to lingering icy roads. There will be no out-of-district transportation and no district transportation to New Market Skills Center.
Olympia Waldorf School: Opens two hours late for grades and early childhood.
Olympic College: Shelton Campus late start. Open at 9:45 am.
Pioneer School District: Opens two hours late. No morning preschool. Snow routes may be used in some areas.
Pope John Paul II High School: Opens one hour late.
Puyallup School District: Schools will open two hours late. Preschool will be closed in the morning. There will be no out-of district-transportation. No extended day preschool. No AM Summit/IAES. Before school childcare programs will operate two hours late, opening at 8:30 a.m..
Shelton School District: Schools will open two hours late. Preschool will be closed in the morning. Buses are operating on snow routes.
Skokomish Tribe: They will open two hours late.
South Sound YMCA-Child Care Services: No morning care in North Thurston, Shelton and Tumwater due to late start.
Tumwater School District: Schools will open two hours late. There will be no preschool in the morning. Buses will operate on snow routes. No AM New Market Session. No AM Cascadia. TVA on regular schedule.
