Thurston Strong, a collection of county jurisdictions and community groups that have come together to offer assistance during the pandemic, is offering a new round of grants.

The new round, announced in November, targets small businesses, nonprofit organizations and food system entities affected by the pandemic, according to the Thurston Economic Development Council, which reminded local business owners about the grants in a Jan. 4 newsletter.

Here’s what’s available, according to the EDC:

About $5 million for small and minority-owned businesses. All Thurston County businesses are eligible for grants up to $10,000 based on demonstrated pandemic-related impact. Grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted.

About $1 million on a first-come, first-served basis for food systems, farmers markets and farmers. Businesses are eligible for up to $10,000 based on pandemic-related impact. Farmers markets and food cooperatives are eligible for more funding depending on size of operation.

About $810,000 for Thurston County-based nonprofits in grants up to $20,000 based on demonstrated pandemic-related impact. Grants are available on a first-come, first-served based until funding is exhausted.
