Aberdeen man is killed when teen driver crashes into bridge
A van occupied by seven people crashed into a bridge early Sunday, killing an Aberdeen man, according to Washington State Patrol.
Pablo Lopez Chavez, 39, died at the scene. The six other occupants, including three children and two teens, were not injured, according to State Patrol.
About 1:40 a.m. Sunday, the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan was headed west on state Route 8 at the US 12 interchange near Elma. Troopers say the vehicle veered to the left and crashed into a bridge.
A 15-year-old boy was driving the vehicle, and he also was the initial 911 caller. He was later taken to an area hospital on a precautionary basis, according to State Patrol.
