WA Center for the Performing Arts to drop COVID protocols effective March 16
The Olympia-area performing arts center announced on Monday it will be ending its COVID protocols on March 16, following behind Gov. Jay Inslee’s announcement that the statewide indoor mask mandate would be lifted March 12.
According to a release from the Center, in light of the downward trend in case numbers, patrons will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the venue. They will be encouraged, but not required, to wear masks while inside.
The Center is following many other indoor facilities across the state, but some are continuing to require proof of vaccination and masks after the statewide mandate is lifted. Harlequin Productions, a nonprofit theater group in Olympia, announced today it will be keeping its COVID protocols until April 2.
According to the release, staff, volunteers and artists will still be required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms daily. Patrons are asked that they self-screen for symptoms before arriving and stay home if they are feeling ill. Everyone backstage will be required to have proof of vaccination or a negative test, as well as wear a mask when not actively performing.
The Center will continue to partner with Curative to provide PCR and Rapid tests at the kiosk outside the box office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, according to the release. More information can be found on the Center’s website.
