Tuesday is expected to be the warmest day in the Olympia area since October
After morning clouds and a chance of rain, the weather is expected to clear and temperatures should rise in the Olympia area on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The daytime high is expected to reach 62 degrees, making it the warmest day of the year so far and warmest since October as well, said meteorologist Kirby Cook.
A previous high of 61 degrees was reported in October. The all-time high for March 22 is 71 degrees, which was set in 1979, Cook said.
“It’s warmer than normal but it’s not unheard of for the time of year,” he said.
He said the region will benefit from a southerly flow that brings warmer air to the Olympia area.
As for the rest of the week, it’s going to sound awfully familiar: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain through Wednesday.
Thursday is forecast to be the sunniest day of the week, although temperatures will rise only into the 50s, and then there’s a chance of rain and more clouds through the weekend, Cook said.
Time the afternoon walk for later in the day on Tuesday, he said.
