Longtime gallery named Business of the Year by Olympia Downtown Alliance
A business and several individuals were recognized with awards this week by the Olympia Downtown Alliance.
The Business of the Year award went to Childhood’s End Gallery and its owners Richenda and Bill Richardson.
The gallery, which focuses on contemporary Pacific Northwest fine art and crafts, is located at 222 Fourth Ave. W. The business celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.
Other award winners:
▪ Persons of the Year award: Owners Nate and Sara Reilly of Three Magnets Brewing Co. and Chris Knudson, owner of Well 80 Brewing. “While they bring their unique aesthetic and vibe to their breweries, they share a few things in common: A love for downtown, great beer, and a collaborative spirit,” an ODA news release stated.
▪ Volunteer of the Year award: Lisa Carroll, who responded to a call for Summer Fest volunteers for eight consecutive Saturdays and often worked double shifts. She also volunteered at Love Oly Winterfest the Sunday after Thanksgiving, according to the ODA.
▪ Golden Paintbrush award: Melissa and Zoey Hammond, who the ODA described as the “go-to mother and daughter team of Love Oly painters,” stepped up to help paint buildings downtown.
▪ Design award: Artist Dave Sederberg. ODA officials said Sederberg helped coordinate publicly engaging art installations at Summer Fest and fabricated the fluorescent trees on the awnings at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Washington Street for Downtown for the Holidays.
