Two injured in one-car crash near Union early Saturday

A 60-year-old Tacoma driver and his 45-year-old Tumwater female passenger were taken to the hospital early Saturday after their car left the roadway in Mason County and ended up in a creek, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

The Tacoma man was westbound on State Route 106 east of Union about 1 a.m. when the man’s Volkswagen Jetta crossed the eastbound lane, left the roadway, struck a rock and came to rest in Dalby Creek, according to WSP.

Both the driver and passenger were injured and taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton. The VW was totalled.

State Patrol said the Tacoma man could faces charges of negligent driving.
