Hearing on controversial gas station in NE Lacey postponed to Tuesday, April 12
A controversial proposal known as Meridian Market & Gas, a store with gas pumps planned for a northeast Lacey neighborhood, will come before the city’s Hearings Examiner at 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a city official.
The hearing was originally set to take place on April 4, but a windstorm knocked power out in the area, creating problems for the online meeting.
“Due to widespread power outages occurring in Meridian Campus today, the potential for barriers to participation is high, therefore the hearing will be continued on April 12, 2022 at 10 a.m.,” said senior planner Samra Seymour in an email to those who planned to attend.
The Tuesday morning webinar will be on Zoom.
Northwest Investors LLC of Federal Way aims to develop a 4,000-square-foot convenience market with 1,000 square feet of general office space and four fueling islands, as well as an additional 4,000 square feet of commercial/retail space at 8808 Campus Glen Drive NE, The Olympian has reported.
Neighbors have been angry about the proposal for months, and have protested at the development site, raising concerns about the gas pumps being placed in a residential area directly across from Meridian Neighborhood Park.
Information on this project is available at City Hall, or the Community & Economic Development Department can be reached at 360-491-5642.
