Shelton woman, Eastern Washington man injured in wrecks near Washington Corrections Center
Two drivers, both thought to be speeding, wrecked their vehicles near Washington Corrections Center in Shelton earlier this month, according to Washington State Patrol.
About 12:40 a.m. April 1, a 44-year-old Shelton woman was headed west on state Route 102, a road that serves the corrections center.
Troopers say that because of excessive speed she drove off the road and hit several trees. The vehicle, a Toyota Scion, wound up on its top, according to State Patrol.
She was injured and taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton, then was later transferred to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
The second driver, a 27-year-old man from Inchelium in Eastern Washington, also was headed west on the same road. Troopers say he, too, was driving at an “extremely high rate” and swerved to avoid the Shelton woman’s car.
The man, also driving a Toyota Scion, lost control and hit a tree, according to State Patrol.
A State Patrol memo shows the man was injured, but doesn’t show if he was treated at an area hospital.
The road was fully closed for about six hours.
