Driver cited for DUI after rollover crash on Yelm Highway Saturday afternoon

Traffic was slowed on eastbound Yelm Highway in Olympia Saturday afternoon after a driver rolled his vehicle near Brassfield Drive, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

About 3:30 p.m., a man in his 60s was headed east in a Saturn sedan, Sgt. Chris Packard said. Witnesses said the car was being driven erratically, then after it rounded the traffic circle at Brassfield, the vehicle drove up onto the median, struck a tree and rolled onto its top.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck, Packard said. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

The driver was later cited for driving under the influence and released, he said.
