With more federal mask mandates being lifted, but despite another rise in COVID-19 cases across the country, the city of Olympia announced that the City Council will be returning to partially in-person meetings.

The meetings will now be held in a hybrid fashion, giving people the option to attend in person in the City Council Chambers downtown or to watch from home through Zoom as people have had to do for more than two years.

The first hybrid meeting was slated for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19. Those who wish to attend remotely can sign up through the city’s calendar. The meeting also will be live streamed to Thurston Community Television Channel 3 and the Thurston County Media website.

According to a news release from the city, the council had two in-person meetings in July 2021 before a rise in COVID-19 cases forced them to go remote again.

Public comment can still be given remotely either during the meeting, or by submitting comments to citycouncil@ci.olympia.wa.us.
