Olympia woman faces vehicular assault charge after wreck in Tumwater Monday evening

An Olympia woman faces a possible vehicular assault charge and an Idaho woman was injured in a crash in Tumwater Monday evening, according to Washington State Patrol.

The 25-year-old Boise area woman was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Troopers believe the 25-year-old Olympia driver was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to State Patrol.

At 6:20 p.m. Monday, the Olympia woman was headed south on I-5 on the off ramp to U.S. Hwy. 101. The Idaho woman was headed in the same direction on I-5.

Troopers say the Olympia woman then cut through the gore point on the off ramp back to I-5 and crashed into the Idaho woman’s car. The Idaho woman’s car then hit the center barrier, spun and struck the right shoulder guardrail.

The road was partially blocked for four hours, troopers say.
