‘March For Our Lives’ gun control rally will make its way through Olympia on Saturday

A gun control march will make its way through Olympia between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, and organizers are encouraging people to join.

The march will last 90 minutes and will begin at the Tivoli Fountain Walkway on the Capitol Campus before making a loop along Capitol Way.

Olympia is one of 14 cities in Washington that will be among hundreds of other cities nationwide to participate in the event after March For Our Lives, a national organization, made a call to action “to urge Congress to reform federal laws in order to end our nation’s epidemic of mass shootings and gun violence.”

Organizers are asking those who plan to attend to sign up on the March For Our Lives webpage prior to attending, although it is not required. They encourage participants to bring signs and wear orange shirts.

Locally, the event is sponsored by Olympia Indivisible, a pro-democracy activist group, according to their press release.
