A longtime Lacey coffee shop has new owners and a new store comes to Rainier
Teyanna Noren and Haley Bommersbach are the new owners of Dancing Goats Coffee Bar in Lacey, The Olympian has learned.
The two used to work at the business, then left the coffee shop to both work at a skilled nursing facility, and now they have returned, officially taking over June 16.
The former owners Chris and Gina Reimertz, who were looking to sell and partially retire, reached out to the two friends by text to see if they were interested in running the business. The business opened in 2011.
Noren and Bommersbach then shared the text with each other and agreed to run the coffee shop together.
Before they took over, they went back to work at the coffee shop to become familiar with the business again in late May.
“We go through waves of being excited to being nervous,” Noren said about running a business, with Bommersbach adding, “We smile and panic.”
The two have a plan to make the business their own. They will continue to be a wholesale buyer of Dancing Goats Coffee, previously known as Batdorf & Bronson, but come Labor Day weekend they are going to change the name of their business to Fog and Fern Coffee House.
“We wanted something local and comforting,” said Noren about the name change. “Most of our changes will be cosmetic ones.”
The business employs five people, which may not seem like enough, but both owners say they will be on site and working as well.
“It’s important that we are on the floor here and making coffee for people and hearing from our customers,” Bommersbach said.
The one thing they don’t want to see change is the people who come to the business and enjoy it.
“We really want to keep that sense of community,” Bommersbach said.
The coffee shop is open Mondays through Fridays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and has reopened 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Dancing Goats Coffee is in Lacey at 4219 Sixth Ave. SE, Suite A.
