Elma motorcyclist is killed after crashing into guardrail, getting hit by pick-up truck

A 27-year-old woman died Friday morning when she crashed her motorcycle on state Route 8 in Grays Harbor County, according to Washington State Patrol.

The motorcyclist was identified as Rae L. Lounsbury of Elma. State Patrol released her name after her family was notified.

About 9:30 a.m. Friday, Lounsbury was headed west on state Route 8 near McCleary. A 69-year-old Olympia man was driving a pick-up truck in the same direction.

Troopers say the woman was ejected from her bike when the motorcycle hit a guardrail, then was hit by the truck. The woman died at the scene. The Olympia man was not injured.

The road was fully blocked for four hours.
