Man airlifted to Seattle hospital after 3-car wreck in south Thurston County

A 60-year-old Rochester man was flown to a Seattle hospital Saturday after he was injured in a three-car collision in south Thurston County, according to Washington State Patrol.

The collision near Rochester blocked U.S. HIghway 12 at Pecan Street Southwest for more than four hours, according to the State Patrol. Two other people involved in the crash were not seriously hurt.

About 3:15 p.m. Saturday, the 60-year-old man, driving a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette, was headed south on Pecan Street. Meanwhile, a 46-year-old Vancouver, Washington man was headed west on U.S. 12 in a Ford F-150 pick-up truck.

They say the driver of the Corvette entered the intersection and was struck by the truck. Troopers say the cause of the crash was a failure to yield.

Debris from the crash struck a third vehicle in the area. That vehicle’s driver, a 19-year-old Rochester man, was not hurt. The Vancouver man was injured, but was treated at the scene, according to State Patrol.
