These Lacey sidewalks are set to be repaired this summer. Is one near you?
A Montesano-based business will be busy this summer in Lacey, repairing and replacing sidewalks.
That’s because Lacey City Council awarded a $461,000 contract to Simmons & Sons Contracting to repair city sidewalks. The work is set to begin in August and is expected to take 80 days.
The sidewalks to be repaired:
▪ Sleater-Kinney Road Southeast at the Lacey Civic Plaza, just north of Applebee’s restaurant near I-5.
▪ Sixth Avenue Southeast at Golf Club Place Southeast.
▪ Parkside Drive Southeast, between Yelm Highway and a roundabout at 53rd Avenue Southeast.
▪ Sidewalks in the Willows Crossing/Rosewood neighborhood, including along 48th Avenue Southeast and 48th Loop Southeast, plus associated side streets. The work does not include frontage along Mullen Road or the private roads in the area, said Ashley Smith, design and construction manager. The neighborhood is near Mullen and Carpenter roads, south of Long Lake.
Council member Michael Steadman reminded the city about a time capsule that the Boys Scouts buried near the sidewalk slated for repairs at Sleater-Kinney Road and the Civic Plaza. Steadman asked that the capsule not be disturbed.
